GNU/Linux Reaches 6% in Nepal
Two weeks ago: Nepal: GNU/Linux Approaches 6% (11 days before the disaster)
Nepal, which has a somewhat functioning democracy, is being relatively transparent about the natural disaster (exacerbated by human neglect/other factors), whereas China (which occupies Tibet like Russia occupies Crimea; Google would change the map for both) censors information, criminalises reporting, and prevents journalists from travelling near the disaster zone. It looks like 5,000+ people may be dead given the number of missing people and how long it has been since the mudslides. In China (or Tibet), who knows what happened and how many people went missing... we might never know because the CPC likes to control messages to save face and eternally maintain power.
Today I checked GNU/Linux in Nepal again (after the disaster) based on statCounter and Clownflare. It's higher than the average in Asia.

GNU/Linux still at around 10%. Expect that to increase.
There is a tech element to the disaster.
The alerting system could be improved (some foresaw the disaster) and it would save many lives if improvements had been made. Western or international media writes a lot about this because many tourists from many countries died. So it is considered "close to home". Some insincere media leverages this disaster for opportunistic "China bashing". █
