PIPs Are a Setup: They Set Workers Up to Fail While Working Their Arse Off Before Getting Kicked (Out) in the Arse
Malicious and exploitative; that's why many people placed on a PIP (worse than a de facto unpaid garden leave) simply resign or start looking for another job at another company, then leave without compensation

Somebody asked some minutes ago in the IBM layoffs board, an unofficial but popular forum: "Do you know of anybody who defeated (for lack of a better word) a PIP?"
No comments yet.
Last night we showed that Microsoft does the same thing right now. In Microsoft it is "LITE" or "Voluntary Separation Agreement" (or PIP) - one way or another they get rid of many workers.
They call it silent layoffs. Trying to meet "goals" or "targets" of a PIP is futile, foolish, and counterproductive. So say many people. Even if some impossible-to-meet quotas are miraculously matched (by overworking, which stresses the body and mind), IBM will still give marching orders (RAs, some time later, it's meant to look unrelated). The real aim is to get people to leave 'voluntarily' because it is cheaper for IBM to nudge people out than to force them out.
IBM cannot say this out loud as any such statement would be used in a class action lawsuit. █
