publicdomainpictures.net Seems to Have Become Fed Up With Slop Contaminating Its Database (Wasting Storage, Bandwidth), Now It's Suitably Flagged, Should Be Demoted/Delisted
We've long used images from this public domain trove (publicdomainpictures.net) and a year ago we began using pdimagearchive.org because publicdomainpictures.net was being overrun by very annoying slop. Sometimes entire pages would be occupied only by slop (all the results in the gallery). Awful.
The site was redone, suffered some hours of downtime, then 'relaunched' with a new interface this week. Maybe they spent months working on it, hard to guess.
Now it presents labels like these (from our latest page):

It would be better to altogether delist all the slop. It would also save server space, not just save time of the site's users. Many would definitely attempt to avoid slop plagiarism, which is unsuitably marked "public domain" despite being derived from copyrighted works without permission (the slop uploaders not knowing about it is definitely not a potent excuse). █
