TechRepublic is Becoming a Slopfarm
It seems like TechRepublic became LLM slop (maybe all of it, maybe only some of it for now)
TechRepublic has long been a home of Microsoft propaganda (example from 2010) and well-known Microsoft propagandists who swim in the same school/pool with the "penis" guy. It's mostly dysfunctional in recent years. They try to recycle the domain for marketing spam.
This week they run spam about "Linux". So we paid closer attention, only to discover slopping galore.
Much to our surprise (or not!), TechRepublic seems to have devolved into spam, promotional fake 'articles', made of LLM slop. Even the images are slop, e.g.:
From what we can gather by checking ~50 recent articles, about 80% of the images used there are slop. The text is too.
That says so much about the company which now controls and runs TechRepublic. It pays salaries to Microsoft propagandists. █
