DST Still Needs to Get Abolished

Saying that DST is crap (and should be altogether abolished) is no longer considered a "strong opinion". Many countries (especially in Asia) never adopted this lunacy.
There are people who talk about daylight-dependent labour, children going to schools, farmers and other sentimental factors. Some people forget to change the clock and hence show up an hour too early (or an hour late).
As a person who worked in technology for decades the impact of DST is more profound. Over the years I experienced many edge cases and fatal exceptions caused by DST.
There are two types of DST events. One is, the same hour happens "twice"; the other is, there's an hour that "doesn't exist".
In database systems with primary keys this can lead to various issues, ranging in terms of severity, depending on how they're built and/or used. Time will almost never be a primary key, but there are systems that search for data based on timestamps.
I've lost track of the number of times (and clients) we needed to help because of DST. Worse yet, the major incidents tend to happen at midnight or an hour after midnight when most people are asleep.
I've long recommended just adopting UTC for everything. We do so on our servers too. It saves a lot of the hassle or overcomes potential issues, but that still leads to time anomalies (relative to client systems, e.g. "desktops" or "phones").
Get rid of DST, efficiency will improve and systems will become more reliable. The main barrier remaining seems to be bureaucratic* and it comes to show that politicians are thoroughly uniformed on these matters. █

* From Daily Links: Clocks fall back this weekend, despite Finland's opposition
In 2018, the European Commission proposed that the practice be abandoned, and in 2019 the European Parliament voted in favour of ending seasonal time changes.
