Cyprus as Satellite Nation of 'Special Interests' in the European Patent Office and Organisation

Summary: Cyprus is 'just an island' in the Mediterranean Sea, but its vote counts as much as that of France, Germany, the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland combined) and so on because of the way the European Patent Organisation operates; today we remind readers that severe governance flaws in the EPO cannot be resolved without an over-encompassing overhaul, which unlike the UPC does not put courts in the hands of a corrupt cabal with "captured states" but instead takes those states out of the cabal's grip

PART 27 in the current EPO series has just been published, highlighting Cypriot complicity (or role) in approving unlawful Strike Regulations.

In the video above the main point that I was hoping to make or the principal observation is, due to its size and relative irrelevance to the EPO the island of Cyprus is very unlikely to rattle the regime; and to make matters worse, Cypriot votes count as much as Germany's but are easier to 'buy' (secure), e.g. with "cooperation" money. In 2018 Cyprus was estimated to have 1,189,265 citizens compared to over 80 million in Germany.

"In 2018 Cyprus was estimated to have 1,189,265 citizens compared to over 80 million in Germany."Upon checking the first minute (for technical sanity) I noticed that a couple of times near the start of the video I erroneously said "Greece" instead of "Cyprus" (Freudian slip), but we don't re-record or edit these sorts of videos. I was never in Greece. I was in Cyprus, however, and also in Turkey, which will be the subject of the next part (to be published tomorrow).

The governance crisis at the EPO shows that the founders wrongly envisioned small countries as well-intentioned, acting in good faith. In the Baltic and Balkan states we see some of the more overt instances of 'voting fodder' controlled by proxy or soft bribes.
