The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Upgrade procedure from 0.93 to 1.1

I believe that all the mechanisms are now in place for a smooth
upgrade from 0.93 to 1.1.

In order to carry out the upgrade you must:

 1. Install a recent a.out version of dpkg - 1.1.5, for example.
If 1.1.5 has no serious problems reported against it by the beta
release date it might be worth copying it into the stable tree.
Alternatively we can tell people to get the a.out version from
    some other directory somewhere.

 2. Use dselect and go through Access/Update/Select/Install/Remove
in order. If you wish some packages not to be upgraded you should
put them on hold by pressing shift-H.

If there are problems with this procedure they are probably bugs.

I'm telling you this now as it is the first time it has been true, and
because I'm going away for the weekend again tonight (hopefully I'll
be able to fix the master cronjobs before then). I'm mailing
debian-private so that for the moment only experts get to see this and
try it out.

Could whoever writes the beta release announcement include a
version of the information above ?

Thanks,
Ian.
