The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

It's a nice idea, but IMO one fraught with both legal and technical
problems.

The best we can do is say "we don't know of any security problems in
this release of this package. We believe it is safe, however it is your
responsibility to ensure the security of your system." Add some more
details in here about what measures debian takes to improve security,
with the general gist being "all care, no responsibility".

Saying anything more is too close to a guarrantee - and debian org
really isn't in any position to guarantee the security of hundreds of
programs sourced off the net. We can try, but what happens if a package
released with a SECURE tag later turns out to be insecure? Who is
ultimately responsible for making that guarantee? Debian? or the
individual developer?
