The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

You simply have not followed the history leading to this decision.

I suspect part of where you are coming from is some dismay that we are
moving certain operations off of I-Connect hosts. Please accept that
there is merit in de-centralizing some functions and that it does
not imply a criticism of I-Connect that we are not willing to put all
of our eggs in the I-Connect basket. It is simply good engineering
practice that we have a master system and mailing lists that work if
you happen to suffer another week-long Internic attack or god forbid a
fire, business failure, or other disaster. Thus I have instituted a hot
site backup for master and I am arranging for the mailing lists to continue
to operate no matter what system is lost. We are lucky enough that people
are willing to donate the hardware and services, and we would be remiss
to not take advantage of them.

I acknowledge, publicly if you wish, the contribution of I-Connect to
the growth of the Debian system.

The volunteer was politely introduced at least once.
Christoph did not read the messages introducing him, or ignored
them, or just he doesn't trust Dan and I to pick someone competent. I
would have been very happy to keep you informed but for understandable
reasons having to do with your family and business you have not been
able to follow Debian traffic.

Thus, you missed those messages, and are posting when you haven't really
followed the thread of the discussion. That is just what Christoph did.
You have also not followed Christoph's involvement with the board. I have
been his major supporter on the board because I feel we need differing
opinions. However, in this case he was very clearly out of order and
I called him on it.

As president, I have been granted the power by the board to make the
decision regarding mailing list operation. I also have the
responsibility to exercise the project management as a whole - the
board has ceded this to me for the present. I chose not to have a
debate on the mailing lists but to make a decision immediately and
implement it without delay. The Senior V.P., to whom I delegated
day-to-day administrative operation of the project, concurs with my
decision and has been kept posted during the entire process. As far as
I am aware, all board members but one support the decision.

Discussion has been more than sufficient for me to make the decision I
am responsible to make, and thus I felt the need to quash further
discussion and go on with more important business of the project, of
which we have a lot.

To challenge this not-so-important decision would only hurt the project.
Simon, once in a while I'm going to have to tell someone to shut up.
Please trust me to do so wisely.

	Thanks

	Bruce
