The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Samba, non-maintainer security fix release.

I probably haven't mentioned this on the security@debian.org list yet.

I've just released a non-maintainer release of samba 1.9.17p2
that fixes the recently on bugtraq announces security bug.

I hope it can be moved into unstable and bo-updates quickly.

It's currently in incomming, and has the following changes file:

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Format: 1.5
Date: Sat, 27 Sep 1997 14:20:15 +0200
Source: samba
Binary: samba
Architecture: source i386
Version: 1.9.17p2-0.0
Distribution: stable unstable
Urgency: high
Maintainer: joost witteveen <joost@rulcmc.leidenuniv.nl>
Description:
 samba - A LanManager like fileserver and simple client for Unix.
Changes:
 samba (1.9.17p2-0.0) stable unstable; urgency=high
 .
   * Non-maintainer release.
   * Upgraded source package for security fix (buffer overrun in
     passwd checking)
   * changed "readonly = no" to "readonly = yes" in the smb.conf file
     supplied with samba.
   * start-stop-daemon seems to return error if asked to stop a non-running
     daemon. As samba usually runs from inetd, this is usually the case.
     Added "|| true" to the prerm script with "start-stop-daemon" lines.
   * Added  "#ifndef __GLIBC__ around  #endif"#include <asm/signal.h>" in source/includes
.h line 218".
   * changed "#ifdef GLIBC2" "#ifdef __GLIBC__", in source/includes
 .
   * then I noticed samba depends on libpam that still is libc5, so
     let's dump trying to make a glibc version, and just go for the libc5
     one.
