The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Solving our problems...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Software engineering is arguably one of the most difficult and
challenging enterprises in existence. The particular type of
engineering that Debian is undertaking, which is the integrated
software system, is (according to the Mythical Man Month) the most
challenging and most failure prone animal of the species and deserves
healthy respect.

With these facts in mind I think that we should avoid pointing the
blame for the success or failure of our enterprise at any one person.
I think that the only thing Bruce deserves is rabid praise for his
bravery and grit in the face of insurmountable odds and a fervent
request that he will remain nearby to supply advice and experience as
we attempt to move forward. If Bruce has grown weary from his efforts
it is certainly no suprise to me and the last thing we need from
anyone is announcements that Debian has lost its fire and should be
abandoned.

We have an amazingly complete software packaging and distribution
system as well as an impressively organized and cohesive Linux
distribution built on this packaging mechanism. Debian is a good
product that any reasonably talented UNIX user should be able to run a
decent sized business on (take mine for instance) and have good
success. I think that now is the time for us to squelch any talk of
Debian's failure, regroup, determine who is still commited to the task
of building a great software distribution system and proceed towards
that goal with a calm but fervent determination.

We have come too far to fall prey to this!
