The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Really ? What has been decided by democracy so far ? Not much IIRC.

I think we have too many individuals and not enough sheep for democracy to
really take hold ;-)

If we have binding votes, and we vote on the way that ``those who make it
happen'' are expected to do things, then eventually someone will be told to do
something they just don't want to do.

When that happens, they will either ignore the vote, or leave.

[this is giving me deja vu already ;-) ]

Since we are not currently having to beat volunteers back with sticks, I'd say
we would be much better off letting people do their jobs as they see fit.

If anyone gets excited enough about something they don't like, they should
have to prove that it can be done better (by doing it better) before we resort
to voting about which we like best.

If someone in authority ever actually does something that manages to upset a
2/3 majority of the developers, we won't be needing a voting mechanism, we'll
be needing a UN peace keeping mission ;-) [Just look at what happens when
about 5 people get upset]

There is no point in all us plebs voting for someone else to work harder,
it won't work, and it's not friendly.

Non-binding polls, on the other hand, do have their place since some
things can only be determined on the basis of the average personal taste.
They might also be useful for taking the sting out of some of the more
pointless discussions, such as have been raging recently.

Cheers, Phil.

Democracy == Dumb-ocracy IMNSHO ;-)
