Moderation is also a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly also. When a posted entry is followed by 200-300 obvious flames which may have nothing to do with the subject you have a problem. I myself have occassionaly replied off-topic in respect to some of the posts. But when it becomes a theater of personal quips and invectives, what would you suggest?

I would like Roy to think long and hard (again if necessary) before doing anything. Once you start to go down a road where you are treating some posts in a different manner to others then you had better make sure you have a copper bottomed reason for doing so and it is not the thin edge of the wedge. Free speech is easy to uphold in theory but this site is now at the point where it would be easy to justify a change of policy and hard to do the right thing. What ever you do take your time and think about it as you will have to live by your decision.
