Since linus has publically state how much he hates the GPLv3..I don’t think too much of it will be converted to the new license.

Also see Bruce’s latest item in Technocrat which discusses this. While MySQL AB is having second thoughts about GPLv3, other projects might only procrastinate this.

The whole scenario makes you think about companies that accepted Novell’s offer, e.g. Citroen. The encouraging news is that moving between Linux vendors is easy(ier).

When GPLv3 comes out, will the Linux kernel be upgraded from v2 to v3 ? Will the GNU portion of Linux be upgraded likewise ? How much of it ?

And, I don’t like the sound of Novell’s promise to comply at all costs. I feel the devil may have consumed them already :(
