Yahoo has a large userbase and so does Flickr, which remained a bit distant despite the acquisition (so did del.icio.us). When I first read the news about Flickr preparing for video I actually thought of it as an attempt by Yahoo to escape/distance itself from Microsoft, demonstrating that it’s business as usual at Yahoo.

I’m guessing this is a masturbatory section by Yahoo! to further entice Microsoft so when MS buys Yahoo! they can compete with Google’s YouTube using Flickr video, expect it to require Silverlight eventually, while users take it up the ass once again from the convicted monopoly. I believe this is something to watch.
