What Madoff did is hardly different from what some other banks are doing, but just like Lehman he gets treated differently (one gets jail, the other gets bailout/handout). Don’t forget that many large companies have also ensured that they pay close to 0% tax, but they legalised it for themselves. Laws are not absolute, especially not enforcement.

BG Sr. actually said that BillG Jr. _wants_ to pay taxes; which they then called him on, and at the end of the segment said Bill G. Jr. would have to pay taxes on his investments; though I find that hard to come by since he “gives” so much to B&MG Foundation. It’s probably his way of showing the world he can do what he wants without consequences unto himself – or at least attempting to. It’d be interesting if they got him on tax evasion though, wouldn’t it?
