Tivo, Kindle, PS3 and most Adroid phones and all sorts of “consumer” electronics come with gnu/linux hidden and software freedom removed through various “Tivoisations” and legal threats. OEMs and retailers have exercised their software freedom without passing it on. This is one reason GPL 3 is so important. Without it, we might all be stuck with a third choice that is gnu/linux with many of the problems proprietary Unix had.
