They could do to OOo what Oracle does MySQL and Microsoft does to Mono to prevent it from being better than the proprietary cash cow/s.

Apple has been a little more careful, in some cases, about who they bring on board. I’m not saying a place for them can’t be found in society — yet — but just because they offer to inject projects with their defective design ideas does not mean that the project is obligated to take the ideas. However, that is one talking point that Microsoft partners are really pushing. It’s one that Novell has been pushing really hard, especially against projects like OpenOffice.org. They’ve been trying to find a way for years to undermine OpenOffice.org, even going as far as to fork a new project to be able to spread Microsoft code and proprietary formats at the cost of open source and open formats.
