schestowitz> yep, that's me - I'm pretty sure that's how I compiled it forNov 08 11:07

schestowitzI have not tried yet, but I just scanned gip server ('find | grep geodesic_rele') to see if someone has compiled it already so that I can just copy the binary. The FMM binary that I still use came from a homedir after the SVN version was altered to the point of being incompatible with Linux (some CUDA-related changes). Currently, what's planned is a sort of comparison between geodesics-based similarity measures. I've build Nov 08 11:07
schestowitzone that classifies surfaces roughly as effectively as GMDS but without the same complexity. However, measurements there can be improved and there is room for comparative analyses.Nov 08 11:07
schestowitzThanks a lot for the help.Nov 08 11:07

schestowitzMint's already overtaken on Distrowatch. I can cope with the learning curve for Unity (all day every day is a learning curve) but it's the loss of functionality and customisability that does my head in. I've always loved Ubuntu but I just hate the 11.10 desktop you can't customise even by editing desktop config files and, anyway, Oneiric doesn't run on my Lenovo lapop or on my NVidia MB media server (networking utterly borked)Nov 08 15:45
schestowitz and soooooo sloooooooow. So I've just installed Bodhi. So far, I'm loving it - fast, customisable and pretty too :) I'm also liking to have the latest apps running on 10.04 LTS rather than having to wait for a new release of the entire distro. And, OK, the functionality will come back (one hopes!) but, in the meantime, I can't launch any apps which require a panel widget (encfs gui, Truecrypt etc etc) and the whole thing is Nov 08 15:45
schestowitzunuseable except as a toaster.Nov 08 15:45
schestowitzIronically, Unity is like going back 6 or 7 years on Linux - I'm using the terminal 10x as much as usual cos the desktop just doesn't work.Nov 08 15:45

schestowitzbloody windows...Nov 08 19:51
schestowitzI exchanged some messages with a colleague. It seems as though this implementation is very stubborn on using DLLs, so compiling for 64-bit Ubuntu servers requires some work, including the change of MATLAB code such as  "loadlibrary([geodesic_library '.dll'], hfile);" and the addition of libraries to compilation, including Boost which is 86MB (compressed).Nov 08 19:51
schestowitzSome of the C++ code has been changed a bit and since non-Windows platforms are listed as not supported, there is no guarantee that this is going to work. For exact geodesics, many searches around the Web brought nothing up, not even links from within peer-reviewed papers.Nov 08 19:51
