schestowitz | A talk about the Facebook competitor, Diaspora, whose co-founder has just died tragically ( http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/11/14/0236212/diaspora-co-founder-dies-at-22 ), will be held in the Northern Quarter near me. In the morning I go to UKFast to chat with a manager. :-) Not that I mind what comes up there, mostly sniffing around, nothing to lose really. | Nov 14 16:05 |

schestowitz | So... I think thinking today. Water evaporating leads to a loss of energy, which is why when we take a shower we often feel cold afterwards (depending on the weather). A bath would be less of a problem because evaporation is external. This means that shower is more of a problem because the vapour removes energy from a body of water with a lot of air contact. It leaves t he body colder as it's not sunk, so even when you | Nov 14 18:23 |
schestowitz | just stop the current it can get cold. | Nov 14 18:23 |
schestowitz | And talking about showers being potentially cold, althoiugh the water is hot, how about when it's cold in the shower so you turn up water heat and it still doesn't help, it just burns. When one's core body heat is quite stable... then it's not a serious problem. And the room temperature matters a lot as well... I'd turn heating on if guests come.. otherwise it's not cold enough yet, minimum around 7 (celcius). | Nov 14 18:24 |
schestowitz | Ssometimes if I tan when it's cold I might lose core body heat and it can take a long time to undo that... coffee helps. Heating doesn't help warm up one's inside... and when waking up it's usually a case of keeping one's body warmth in tact So there I veer off on a tangent. I know this from experience I guess, but never see it openly discussed much... | Nov 14 18:25 |
schestowitz | maybe common knowledge but not a common debate, and well... it affects the immune system. Sometimes I think that because I need to know of risk of illness. I'm almost never ill, since age 14, except maybe a very mild cold... and I try to avoid that... when the body gets cold, the immune system is weakened. | Nov 14 18:25 |
schestowitz | And the consequences can then become more severe. So just keeping abreast all all that info can help avoid getting ill...although... might be nice taking a day off work calling "sick". | Nov 14 18:25 |
