Viper550schestowitz: apparently Ubuntu devs are proposing a switch back to RhythmboxNov 03 17:40
DaemonFCold news :PNov 03 17:40
Viper550DaemonFC: I said that last night, ESTNov 03 17:40
DaemonFC(to the tune of that Get a Mac ad) Problems? Too darned many. Patches? Not enough. Banshee has issues, it's so glitchy, they're leaving it, for Rhythmbox... Nov 03 17:41
DaemonFCB-)Nov 03 17:41
Viper550cause well, Banshee = not GTK3, glitchy on ARM, removing it could allow the removal of Mono from the main repository, etc.Nov 03 17:43
DaemonFCCommunication in Ubuntu goes Mark Shuttleworth > Jono Bacon to regurgitate it and dodge questions > usersNov 03 17:43
DaemonFCnever the other way aroundNov 03 17:43
DaemonFChe's just a mouth piece to spin whatever has already been decided at the topNov 03 17:43
DaemonFCI doubt Mono will be removed from the repositoryNov 03 17:44
DaemonFCgetting it removed from the supported system and into Universe would be good thoughNov 03 17:44
Viper550DaemonFC: that's what I think they meantNov 03 17:46
DaemonFCthey wasted time and effort coding all their Ubuntu One crap in C# for a dead end (Mono), while complaining Rhythmbox isn't up to their standards, instead of improving RhythmboxNov 03 17:46
Viper550they said it could also save some space on the ISOsNov 03 17:46
DaemonFCand now that Red Hat has ported Rhythmbox to GTK+ 3 and gotten it in good shape, they're thinking about doubling back and using it in Ubuntu againNov 03 17:46
DaemonFCwhich means rewriting all their Ubuntu One crap that they spent man hours writing for BansheeNov 03 17:46
DaemonFCUbuntu just takes leftoversNov 03 17:47
DaemonFConce some other outfit gets something working, Ubuntu swipes it and takes credit for installing it in the default systemNov 03 17:47
DaemonFCwhich they call "integration work"Nov 03 17:47

schestowitzUbuntu could go back to RB and use gnote instead of tomboyNov 03 17:49
