sebsebseboh okFeb 07 00:07
schestowitzWith all the settings correctly entered into foswiki through the configure script, openldap needs to be installed on Debian. apt-get can install it and set have it configured with a master password once the installation is done (the user is prompted for it.Feb 07 00:09
schestowitzIn order to keep the local service synchronised with a master/remote one, rsync needs to be installed (unless the Debian installer is instructed include it already), keys needs to be set up to enable passwordless-login (for a cron job to work), and a command such as rsync -avz root@192.168.3.112:/etc/ldap /etc/ldap/ issued in order to copy over some of the relevant files. This is separate from the local cache that foswiki uses to keep Feb 07 00:13
schestowitztrack of users based on LDAP records.Feb 07 00:13
schestowitzThe latter is built into the program and can be spurred to update more frequently either with an on-page button or a cron job that invoked the relevant perl script.Feb 07 00:14

fewtmore difficult than RPMFeb 07 01:03
scientesreally fewt, why?Feb 07 01:04
prurigroso basically, you have debians very reasonable collection of packages, but if you want to grab a newer version before debian puts it out or get something in that debian doesn't support, it feels like you're fighting with the systemFeb 07 01:04

DaemonFCI'm even less confident in Mint KDE than I am in KubuntuFeb 07 18:43
DaemonFCthey tend to say one thing and do another quite oftenFeb 07 18:43
DaemonFCaccording to their post-Mint 10 roadmap, Mint KDE was supposed to ditch Kubuntu and go DebianFeb 07 18:43
DaemonFCbecause Kubuntu was getting to be "too difficult to maintain"Feb 07 18:44
DaemonFCthen they make everyone wait forever wondering if they're using a dead end, and then announce new Mint KDE editions based on KubuntuFeb 07 18:44

DaemonFC[13:47:16] <DaemonFC> and carried it since 11.04Feb 07 18:52
DaemonFC[13:47:46] <DaemonFC> so I have to wonder how many of those are floating about where upstream says hell no, and Canonical carries it anywayFeb 07 18:52
Formic_when people no longer get paid to do something, it slips in prioritizationFeb 07 18:53
DaemonFC[13:50:03] <DaemonFC> considering that KDE relies on Qt and you have bad patches floating around to Qt to make Unity 2D do something in particular, I'd imagine that makes it very hard to anticipate what KDE will do with the patch appliedFeb 07 18:53
DaemonFC[13:50:08] <DaemonFC> this way, they don't have to careFeb 07 18:53
