DaemonFC | I had a rather unpleasant Windows XP "eXPerience" the other day when mom tried to print something out on Dave's computer and the printer driver was missing. Then it turns out that HP has the most ridiculous driver installer I've ever seen, THEN it turned out I installed the driger for the wrong model because they have two of them that are only slightly differently named. So I had to yank that back out and install the right bundle. Then it tries | Apr 03 21:08 |
DaemonFC | hosing the system with crapplets and trialware. If I had plugged the same printer into a recent Linux distribution it would have just said "HP printer model (whatever) detected...configuring....done" and then it would print, scan, copy, fax, etc. | Apr 03 21:08 |
DaemonFC | So Windows still has this aggravating tendency to pop up and drain an hour out of your life for something that Linux would do in about 5 seconds... | Apr 03 21:08 |
