6 Years in Limbo After EPO Abuses Because ILO is Far Too Slow for Timely Justice (If Any at All)

"Sorry about your mistreatment, see you in the next decade!"

Slow lane

Summary: Union-busting and gross violations of labour law are unfortunately still not handled based on their substance in a timely fashion by ILO-AT (the ILO's tribunal), which can sometimes take almost a decade to actually do something (whereupon it's too late if not moot anyway)

THE failure of ILO to properly deal with European Patent Office (EPO) abuses against workers is noteworthy; the same can be said about member states and the EC. How can people like Battistelli get away with it all? Does Europe still have kings?

The other day I took out my frustration, seeing that one staff representative (former at least) had been stuck in the process for ages. One can only imagine how much money was spent, never mind the health implications. "King" Battistelli and his cronies have done unbelievable harm and ruined people's lives by clearly violating the law and even their own rules. How can ILO not see this? This institution- (not staff-) friendly body acts as if money talks and rarely even speaks to any staff representatives of the institutions it 'serves'. Here are some of the latest thoughts -- if not pleas -- from Dr. Koch. The decision is due very soon.

Suffice to say, neither does she speak for us nor we speak for her. But she's a rare case of appellants becoming vocal and one might say outspoken online. Hard to blame her.
