InteLeaks – Part XXIV: Love for Microsoft, Not for Free Software or Whatever Replaces Microsoft

Video download link

Summary: Intel is basing its big decisions on buzzwords and firms that master buzzwords; it's sad that instead of listening to Intel's own (in-house) engineers it's relying on a bunch of clowns who push 'Clown Computing' and 'apps' and 'UX'...

THE Intel leaks or "InteLeaks" series (see index in the relevant wiki page) is getting closer and closer to the 'smoking gun', which reveals Intel management pushing towards a partnership with Microsoft, even in units that are supposed to compete against Microsoft and generally employ people who reject Microsoft. Way to alienate and upset your very own staff...

Clown and apps and stuffIn previous parts, especially the past 3 parts, we showed the reach-out to so-called 'research' (buzzwords) people outside of Intel. They keep obsessing over Microsoft's proprietary trap and "Clown Computing" even though Intel already (at the time) had its own toolchain and hosting, built on top of Free software and hosted in-house (or leased). Why would anyone in such a position throw all that away and throw oneself at Microsoft traps?

"If this is the sort of stuff Intel's management uses or relies on to get around technical staff and bypass common sense, then Intel is seriously screwed."The above video deals with some of the shallow 'analysis' from Harbor 'Research'; I highlight some of the obvious deficiencies in their so-called 'assessment' (basically interviews and graphs which target nontechnical managers). If this is the sort of stuff Intel's management uses or relies on to get around technical staff and bypass common sense, then Intel is seriously screwed.
