●● IRC: #boycottnovell @ Techrights IRC Network: Wednesday, September 29, 2021 ●● ● Sep 29 [00:15] *activelow has quit (connection closed) [00:15] *activelow (~activelow@gbgr2jcp6yrt2.irc) has joined #boycottnovell [00:45] schestowitz-TR I've removed the crontab line (commented out rather) that restarts ipfs every night at 3:55am because I think this is where it went wrong for 2 nights. Either way, I think there's no real need/necessity for this. IIRC, I did this so that daily stats can be presented for 23-hour chunks of time. ● Sep 29 [02:16] schestowitz-TR I just got a 503 error as well, out of the blue, but I could see a load spike too in nmon around the same time [02:18] Techrights-sec I'll try adding some retries on certain errors all the way through the work flow [02:52] Techrights-sec While in there I [02:52] Techrights-sec ve tweaked the Gemini main index generator to include the actual recent [02:52] Techrights-sec links from the three most recenly posted days. If this is too many in the [02:52] Techrights-sec menu it is easy to trim to two days or even one day. But for now it goes [02:52] Techrights-sec by how recent they are rather than fixed dates like before. [02:53] schestowitz-TR we still have a weak understanding of how people use the capsule, but we can adapt ● Sep 29 [03:03] Techrights-sec The data in ~/logs/ is too vague for that. We'd have to resort to focus groups [03:03] Techrights-sec or other feedback. [03:05] schestowitz-TR let's see if ipfs goes titsup again tonight (I think not; it seems to happen after the restart of ipfs. I would help to have more nodes that pin everything. [03:05] schestowitz-TR ffii is working on the upc issues, more details in irc. we'll soon start an epo series. [03:21] schestowitz-TR I tried for ages to find any of the RMS talks in Poland, to no avail.... actually, YouTube spewed out COMPLETELY irrelevant "results"... notably Gates crap. Did RMS changes his name to Bill? [03:33] Techrights-sec No idea about Poland. The talk was billed as private for the one society, but [03:33] Techrights-sec I had hopes that they would put a copy online later after some time. There's [03:33] Techrights-sec been no word about that, so I don't know if there is any point in waiting. [03:33] Techrights-sec Have you tried the contact address listed at RMS personal site? [03:33] Techrights-sec (For the event not for RMS) [03:34] schestowitz-TR I have not tried and if they are not techies, maybe there's no video (in a free format) [03:35] Techrights-sec The organizer has a degree in Physics IIRC ● Sep 29 [04:09] schestowitz

An Arduino-powered underwater ROV made out of PVC pipe

The chassis of the ROV was fashioned from a series of 50mm PVC tubes that vary in size from 70mm all the way up to 450mm in length. A rectangular base acts as a skid and helps prevent rough landings from injuring the robot. Above that is a small box which houses a 12V lead-acid battery, along with the electronics. Commands are sent from the surface control box via UART to the Arduino Nano within the ROV, which in turn [04:31] schestowitz activates a bank of relay modules that turns on both the vertical and horizontal thrusters for planar movements.
