[13:29] schestowitz__[TR][13:29] schestowitz__[TR]Material testing often comes down to breaking stuff and measuring how much force it took to do so. How a thing breaks is a result of different strength properties. There are many different types of strength, but mechanical engineers are most concerned with tensile, compressive, shear, and torsional strength. The easiest way to test compressive strength is to squish something with a very powerful press. [13:29] schestowitz__[TR] Element14 Presents Clem Mayer purchased a 20-ton hydraulic press for that purpose and used an Arduino to measure its force.

[13:30] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-boilingsteam.com | Transform your Steam Deck into a Steering Wheel, with Sol Wheel's Clever New Model - Boiling Steam [13:30] schestowitz__[TR][13:31] schestowitz__[TR]Not long after the first iteration was shared on Reddit and on Boiling Steam, Ethan from Sol Designs has made progress with their second iteration of the Sol Wheel, an accessory that can turn your Steam Deck into a Steering Wheel. Now there are massive improvements in usability. The previous iteration could only make the Steam Deck turn very slightly left and right, but this new one makes it possible [13:30] schestowitz__[TR] to do much more drastic wheel turns, along with rubber bands to give some pull back from the more extreme positions on the side. Very clever.
