Getting started with ROS security scanning
[08:29] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-Getting started with ROS security scanning | Ubuntu [08:29] schestowitz

Its a new year, and an especially great time to reflect on the security of your robots. After all, those interested in breaching it are probably doing the same. In previous articles, we discussed ROS security by detailing practical steps for securing your robots on Ubuntu and the challenges the community faces. In this blog post, Ill give you some strategies, tips and open-source tools you can [08:29] schestowitz integrate into your development process today to ramp up the security of your project.

This pen plotter gets nervous when observed.
[08:31] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-blog.arduino.cc | This pen plotter gets nervous when observed | Arduino Blog [08:31] schestowitz

Under normal conditions, the machine plots row after row of little squares. A video camera points at the plotter as it works and the video feed streams through a website. And this is where things get interesting. If someone visits the website and watches the stream, the pen plotter becomes nervous about being observed. It will then start to make mistakes, like drawing scribbles instead of squares. Once the [08:31] schestowitz visitor leaves the website and the machine is unobserved once again, it will return to drawing perfect rows of squares.

[11:10] schestowitz Accessibility is meant to be a positive-sounding word, not exclusion. Many in the buzzwords 'industry' encourage the use of positive language, but accessibility can be a mine field because of false equivalence involving an already-marginalised group. ● Jan 17 [13:19] *u-amarsh04 has quit (Quit: Konversation terminated!) [15:13] schestowitz If youre looking to transition into DevOps, either from system administration or some other role, this article describes several tools and technologies to learn. For example, Reynolds says, DevOps practitioners should be comfortable with automating processes. This means scripting out manual processes, setting up CI/CD pipelines, and streamlining task execution. [15:13] schestowitz Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and monitoring and observing processes is also important, says Reynolds.
