[08:10] schestowitz[08:10] schestowitzAll makers love lasers and they make great shop tools. Even low-power lasers can engrave a variety of materials. Cutting material requires more power, with the most popular cutting lasers being CO2 with power between 10W-100W. But the small, affordable solid state laser modules can cut some materials, like acrylic, if you get a powerful enough model. If you want an affordable way to use one of those, then [08:10] schestowitz the Mokey Laser v1.0 is worth looking at.

[08:12] schestowitz[08:12] schestowitzIn September 2022, I only know of two Web engines that have any hope of dealing with anything modern that are still entirely free of Rust.
[08:12] schestowitzWebkit (also WebkitGTK, which powers GNOME Web), and Goanna, which Pale Moon runs on top of.
[08:12] schestowitzThis is it folks. Theyre going away fast.

[08:20] schestowitz[08:20] schestowitzI work fiercely on making the curl and libcurl documentation top-notch state of the art good and complete. I want my users to feel that. Everything is documented; clearly and with details and examples.
[08:20] schestowitzI want and aim for libcurl to be the best documented software library in the world.

[09:03] schestowitz[09:04] schestowitzColumbro took the time to speak to The Reg about the new organization. He told us the Linux Foundation has "decades of experience running the largest shared technology investment in the world and the biggest open collaboration out there."
[09:03] schestowitzHe added: "So, we will create an advisory board, but what we will not do is create a separate board of directors for LF Europe, because while we want to foster regional collaboration, we don't want to create silos."

[09:18] schestowitz[09:18] schestowitzProbably one of my favourite pieces of software. I often have a love / hate relationship with it due to some historic instability issues, although it has genuinely gotten a lot better there. It could be improved as with anything and these funds will help towards that.

[09:45] schestowitz[09:45] schestowitzThe reason we still use it, of course, is because software patents have made it dangerous to try replacing it with anything else, even though its comically inefficient and poorly designed.
[09:45] schestowitzThe standard caught on, all software supports it, the patents are dead.
