[04:46] schestowitz And yes, I guess I cited the articles key message without making my own position clear enough: Im a big fan of how the EPO treats software patents overall. [04:46] schestowitz Three main reasons: [04:46] schestowitz The conceptual framework (called the COMVIK approach) is simple and pragmatic [04:46] schestowitz Theres a huge body of case law on the question is it technical? for many if not most relevant domains of digital innovations, which makes patenting in Europe comparatively predictable [04:46] schestowitz The EPO is quite progressive on the question is it technical? [04:46] schestowitz For example, [04:46] schestowitz cryptography is technical (although its math), [04:46] schestowitz many database optimizations are technical (even when they are rather algorithmic), and [04:46] schestowitz many computer gaming aspects are technical (even when they are about presenting information). [04:46] schestowitz The only facet of the article I was intending to confirm was that the EPO could be more progressive when it comes to patenting AI and machine learning-related innovations. [04:46] schestowitz Other than that, I pretty much the European way of software patenting. ● Jul 28 [05:14] *schestowitz-TR has quit (connection closed) [05:14] *schestowitz-TR (~acer-box@qhduu73fcjmdn.irc) has joined #techbytes [05:39] schestowitz x https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/27/22596578/microsoft-q4-2021-earnings-revenue-xbox-cloud-services-surface-gaming [05:39] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-www.theverge.com | Microsoft reports weaker Surface and Windows revenue amid global chip shortage - The Verge [05:39] schestowitz # shifting more line items over to the azure account?
