oiaohmDigit: 3d printers are horrible on power usage and production rate compared to injection molds and methods.May 02 09:11
Digitmore readily addaptive to needs tho, not needing a 2 stage production process, can edit designs and print, without needing make a new mold, nor having to deal with molds once made, and with a clean power supply power usage not a problem.  not that i'm hung up on 3d printing as the best method, happy to hear other methods.  ... and once further developed to home user atomic scale... ;DMay 02 09:14

-TechrightsBot-tr/#techrights-DIY Injection Mold Design For The Home Shop | HackadayMay 02 09:19
oiaohmMostly because of speed of production from a mold vs 3d printer.May 02 09:19
oiaohm3d printers are good for one of parts.   It is possible to have 3d printers make molds then have a injection mold system to kick out like 1000+ quickly.May 02 09:20
oiaohm3d printers  and home cnc machines get as so far.   Fast production is always some form of mold.May 02 09:21
Digiti vaguely remember seeing a method that involved a volume of the material and the end print somehow beamed into the material, then the rest falls away as dust, leaving the solid printed object.  May 02 09:22
Digitidk how often home users would need churn out 1000s quickly of anything, but good to have that option.  :)May 02 09:23

ace48Hello everyone, I was wondering if the Metro Apps that come with Windows are still popular today? Since Windows 10 was released, do the majority of desktop users use these at all?May 02 17:43
XRevan86ace48: Doesn't look like it.May 02 17:44
ace48That's what I thought. It seems like those apps didn't catch on with desktop users.May 02 17:44
ace48Any other opinions on this? I'd like to hear your guys' feedback.May 02 17:45

XRevan86ace48: Well, my opinion is that it's probably because there's little reason for them, they depend on Windows Store, there are many users of Windows 7 who can't use them, it's a less-developed development infrastructure.May 02 17:47

XRevan86Oh, and the future of win32 is a lot more certain: it is definitely there to stay.May 02 17:48
XRevan86ace48: So the perspective I'm trying to look at it from is not of a user but of a developer, and for a developer it's just not worth it.May 02 17:50
ace48XRevan86: Very good points. Thank you.May 02 17:52
XRevan86ace48: And something tells me that Microsoft Edge is no longer a "Modern" application now.May 02 17:52
ace48XRevan86: The reason I asked is because I'm trying to refurbish computers, and I wasn't sure if the majority of desktop users still use them.May 02 17:53
