●● IRC: #techrights @ Techrights IRC Network: Friday, December 02, 2022 ●● ● Dec 02 [00:02] DaemonFC MinceR, Some of the people on Amazon reviewing this Invicta watch I bought are pretty funny. [00:02] DaemonFC One guy made a video of himself turning the crown the wrong way and saying it was stuck and he wanted his money back. [00:03] DaemonFC Another one left the screw-down crown open and then complained that he jumped into a swimming pool with it and water got into the watch. [00:04] DaemonFC It's only water resistant with the crown secured, same as any watch with a crown like this. I wonder where all the good cheap restaurants have gone. [00:36] DaemonFC They weren't all you can eat on the steak, but if you bought a steak dinner, you got a steak, baked potato, and unlimited trips to the salad bar, and a drink with refills. [00:36] DaemonFC And it wasn't expensive for what it was. [00:36] DaemonFC Sometimes they had all you can eat ribs. [00:37] DaemonFC Then there was Noble Roman's. There's still like 3-4 of them in Indiana, I think, but they're not what they were. [00:37] DaemonFC They used to be all over the state and they had extremely good pizza. [00:39] DaemonFC I used to eat there when I lived in Fort Wayne for like a year. [00:39] DaemonFC I told John to get in the car on his day off and we'd hit the brunch buffet. I can't remember what city we were in. We were on vacation in Virginia, and so it was definitely somewhere in Virginia. They had the lunch counter. [00:42] DaemonFC schestowitz[TR2], The food in this country used to be a lot better. [00:42] DaemonFC I do agree that I think my generation took a wrecking ball to the food. [00:43] DaemonFC I'd rather eat at the KMart (no longer exists) diner than one of these hipster restaurants. [00:45] DaemonFC Like so many things Canadian that are just too wrong to exist.... [20:07] DaemonFC It's precisely because Microsoft Office "interop" between Microsoft Office versions and platforms is so bad that when people say "Well, there's the problem, you use LibreOffice.", I head desk.
[20:07] DaemonFC LibreOffice actually tries to figure out which way to deal with Microsoft Office that is the "safest", something that Microsoft themselves has yet to figure out.
[20:07] DaemonFC And that's what you get when you have several Windows versions, Web, and the Mac one is using a completely different core.

[20:29] techuser Hello.
[20:30] DaemonFC Ryan Farmer-Alcaraz
[20:30] DaemonFC @DaemonFC
[20:30] DaemonFC I love car dealerships.
[20:30] DaemonFC So I have a 2008 Buick, and it's low miles (59,000) and they send me a thing saying the 60,000 mile service is coming up and they want $500 to do it.
[20:30] DaemonFC That's all the notice says. It doesn't tell me what they propose to do to the car.
[20:30] DaemonFC I've already had all the fluids, S-belt, and filters, spark plugs and wires changed/serviced when I bought the thing because nobody else ever does.
[20:30] DaemonFC Boomer mentality is why service a transmission for $160 when a new one is only $3,000.
[20:30] DaemonFC If a Boomer owns a car and does service the transmission, it's usually after the fluid is all burned up and they think new fluid is going to fix damaged gears.
[20:30] DaemonFC Then they come back after the new fluid doesn't allow it to shift right because the broken burned up goo floating around in the fluid was all that was allowing the thing to shift anymore and demand a new transmission from the shop.
[20:30] DaemonFC I always do service every 30,000 miles whether the manual says to or not and I've never had a problem.
[20:30] DaemonFC techuser, Hi

[20:46] DaemonFC MinceR, Apparently, I'm not the only Bailey/Duckworth voter in Illinois.
[20:46] DaemonFC FiveThirtyEight compared split ticket voters in every state.
[20:47] DaemonFC Between who won the Governor's office and who won the US Senate seat that was up (1/3rd of states had both).
[20:47] DaemonFC I voted for Darren Bailey (R) for Governor and Tammy Duckworth (D) for Senate.
[20:48] DaemonFC And Pritzker ended up +11 while Duckworth ended up +14 vs their Republican opponent.
[20:48] DaemonFC So 3% of voters voted for Darrent Bailey and then Tammy Duckworth.
[20:49] DaemonFC I didn't like either choice for Governor, but I was very unhappy about the COVID lockdowns, not in principle, but how they were carried out, and how the "emergency" is still going on. Not to control any spread of disease, because there's no such orders anymore.
[20:49] *tessier (~treed@a26kzb9a5rtte.irc) has joined #techrights
[20:49] DaemonFC But emergency powers and suspension of laws that Pritzker doesn't like.
[20:49] DaemonFC Which have nothing to do with COVID, at all.
[20:49] DaemonFC Emergency Powers never go away.
[20:50] DaemonFC So my reasoning is that if Pritzker is keeping them just to be a dictator and neither one was concerned about COVID, at least Bailey had promised to terminate the Emergency Powers.
[20:50] DaemonFC People don't realize what they've done.
[20:50] DaemonFC J.B. Pritzker "is the Senate".
[20:50] DaemonFC He's a Palpatine, a Caligula.
[20:51] *mib_6dzinl has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[20:51] DaemonFC Next, he'll disband it or appoint his horse or something.
[20:56] DaemonFC I posted that to the Lake County State's Attorney's Facebook wall and added:
[20:56] DaemonFC "Might as well. Nobody will stop him. We have a total breakdown of checks and balances, of rule of law. Nobody cares. The other branches "appear to function:, but with the Illinois "Emergency Management Act", it's all an illusion to make the public fail to realize that the Governor is now the state.
[20:56] DaemonFC If you call in to almost any state office, there's now a recording that says that even though the law says things happen a certain way, by decree of Pritzker "due to COVID-19", that's actually not what will happen.
[20:56] DaemonFC And COVID is everywhere, and Pritzker's "health order" says wear a mask, don't wear a mask, get a vaccine, don't get a vaccine, test if you're a health worker, or don't. He doesn't care. As long as he can change what the laws mean with his pen and a phone."

[21:02] DaemonFC One reason I never used Twitter even before Musk is because I knew it was a sewer of advertising and I have better things (like literally anything) to do with life than read a wall involving one sad fast food burger chain trolling the other about whose burgers are frozen and therefore suck worse than theirs do.
[21:02] DaemonFC "Brands" attempting to be cool is like walking in on your parents.
[21:02] DaemonFC It's just something you never want to see if your mind isn't totally warped.

[21:24] DaemonFC There's a country that's entirely out of control. It has been for decades. The people living there run nothing.
[21:24] DaemonFC They have elections, but the outcome is pre-decided.
[21:24] DaemonFC Anyone can be a criminal if you just follow them around.
[21:24] DaemonFC They're told they have freedom and free markets, but they don't.
[21:24] DaemonFC They're a total threat to world peace and have declared horrific wars of aggression on their neighbors in violation of the Laws of War more than half a dozen times since 1960.
[21:24] DaemonFC The United States of America.

[21:33] DaemonFC In this country that's entirely out of control, the regime possesses over 40% of the world's nuclear weapons arsenal and spends about a third of the world's military spending.
[21:33] DaemonFC If it can't control you with bribes and assassination threats, it'll sanction your economy to ruins and maybe launch a war that its citizens don't get consulted on.
[21:33] DaemonFC It steals from its citizens via threats of prison, then bails out its corporations and slumlords, and props up a false state of Israel.

[21:33] DaemonFC All of this having been said, when people say they hate me because I'm an American, I wish they truly understood how miserable it is here.
[21:33] DaemonFC Most people living here (4/5ths) have more debt than savings, they work paycheck to paycheck, and if they have to go to the hospital even once, it means bankruptcy, and the government doesn't care if we lose our jobs and eat out of trash cans at the rail station.

[21:46] DaemonFC @DaemonFC
[21:46] DaemonFC I looked at the retail price of Molnupiravir on my receipt. It said $52.99 and my health insurance paid it, and for the clinic visit, which was about $200.
[21:46] DaemonFC How many people get COVID, don't have insurance, don't have $300 in their pocket, decide to ride it out, and end up in the hospital with a $100,000 bill if they live?
[21:46] DaemonFC This on top of the government of Illinois deciding to put no test-to-treat centers in Waukegan and dumping them all over the rich white neighborhoods instead.
[21:46] DaemonFC Ryan Farmer-Alcaraz
[21:46] DaemonFC @DaemonFC
[21:46] DaemonFC There's not a single COVID test-to-treat center in the working class and ethnically diverse city of Waukegan.
[21:46] DaemonFC This tells you right here that the Democrats running the county consider it a ghetto and you can either work or die, they don't care.

[21:48] DaemonFC They actually made some changes to the 89260B to make it look more like the Rolex Submariner than it did in the article.
[21:48] DaemonFC Like putting the "10" on the crown in the same font/size as the Rolex.
[21:49] DaemonFC They also added the cyclops window for the date.
[21:50] DaemonFC The main giveaway the 89260B isn't the Rolex Submariner is the Invicta logo on the watchface, the lack of the word "Submariner" on the watchface, the Invicta logo on the side of the watch if you're looking right at it, and the slightly smaller crown guard.
[21:51] DaemonFC So from a distance of 10 feet, you'd really be hard pressed to notice any difference between the two.

[22:00] DaemonFC I don't know why the pill description for Mulnupiravir has to say they're Swedish Orange.
[22:00] DaemonFC Makes me think they should come with a side of meatballs and instructions with sketches of humans doing every conceivable thing to the pill that you're not supposed to do to a pill and frowning about having done that, followed by swallowing the pill with an indication that this made them happy.
[22:09] MinceR probably because people might be allergic to it
[22:10] DaemonFC I wrote on WGN:
[22:10] DaemonFC Spouse got COVID this month. I got COVID this month. Spouse got Paxlovid. I got Molnupiravir. The doctor who talked to me asked if we were vaccinated. I said "Yes, 4 times, Pfizer. Last one was bivalent on October 6th. Still very very sick and we both got COVID.".
[22:10] DaemonFC I don't know whether the vaccination even helped. We ended up just as sick with COVID as anyone I know that didn't take the vaccine.
[22:10] DaemonFC I can tell you it really sucks.
[22:10] DaemonFC The only thing I know for sure is the bivalent vaccine made my spouse so sick that he had to take two sick days he could have used the next month when he got COVID anyway and had to go on FMLA.

[22:25] DaemonFC My GOP dad is all on about how many political donations Sam "Bankrupt"-Fried made before FTX collapsed to keep regulators away, and most of it went to Dems.
[22:25] DaemonFC Elon Musk is doing same thing, with same reasons, giving the majority to Republicans.
[22:25] DaemonFC Musk is running lots of businesses that don't make money and lives on taxpayer bailouts on things the public didn't decide on, and lousy cars that he's having to discount now that real car companies are making EVs that work.

[22:25] DaemonFC Tesla is grappling with the fact that most buyers who speak honestly about it were going on about what a piece of crap they had foisted on them, if it ever arrived at all, after they laid out 6 figures.
[22:25] DaemonFC Now that Buick is making an EV, Elon is pretty much f---ed.
[22:25] DaemonFC Buick makes a fine car, and has always been part of the better side of General Motors.
[22:25] DaemonFC Elon should be very afraid. $3,500 off a Tesla if you "take delivery" in Dec?
[22:25] DaemonFC Will he guarantee that it will even be THIS Dec when it arrives?
