[21:10]	DaemonFC	But the reason we had a Civil War was because the Union government didn't abide by the Tenth Amendment and defer powers that it was not explicitly granted to the states, or to the people in those states.

[21:11]	DaemonFC	Finally, things came to a head when the southern states couldn't get relief under the Constitutional process in place at the time, and forked the US constitution and general government layout and tried to leave.

[21:13]	DaemonFC	The South tried to bring in the UK and France for international assistance, and the Union government was terrified (and lucky that neither one particularly wanted to intervene).
[21:14]	DaemonFC	Militarily, today, if the US suddenly, for whatever reason, decided to declare a war on the UK or France, it would be over in hours and with both of them on the losing side.
[21:14]	DaemonFC	But back then, they commanded most of the geopolitical power in the world.
