Windows Works for Moscow (When Russia's Enemies Use It)
EARLIER today we said that "Wars and Conflicts [Are] Likely to Accelerate Adoption of GNU/Linux Because Countries Pursue Security and Privacy Rather Than Hegemony" (and of course because Windows kills); we showed that countries like China and Russia move away from Microsoft. Windows is a risk they're unable to accept because there are back doors, set aside insurmountable legal and technical limitations.
"Potential measures that Russia may take against Finland include information influencing and undermining bilateral links, such as by withdrawing from remaining treaties," a new article from Finnish media says, perhaps alluding to social control media and other large-scale "information influencing" disservices/operations. To quote the rest: "Denial of service (DoS) attacks can also give an impression that infrastructure and services are vulnerable, even without causing any real damage." Alvari explained."
There were several reports this past week about Windows botnets (based on the context) hammering on sites and services across Finland. The national broadcaster wrote not one but several articles about it this past week; we put those in our Daily Links and IRC, both here and elsewhere.
The subject is considered "provocative" among Microsoft apologists and operatives, so it needs to be discussed even more (and more openly).
Someone has explained that this is all hot air if the public and businesses and schools are not given strict guidance to fire the quisling Microsofters who make the country's computers super vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. A complete pivot away from Microsoft is the essential first step towards online survival. "NATO is in between a rock and a hard place with so many Windows deployments" was the conclusion. █
