Network Upgraded
But some downtimes due to maintenance
EARLIER this week there were 25 minutes of pre-planned downtime due to upgrade work on the network, resulting in better and more reliable routing. As of today, we see some requests in this site taking less than a tenth of a second (for whole pages, not just one file):
Even in the Tux Machines site (larger and more bloated) it's very fast from the UK:
Considering the quality of today's networks, latency should be very low and page requests (complete, with parallel requests for files) should take about as long as the latency.
Tomorrow there is more network maintenance, so the sites may be down briefly any time between 06:00 and 19:00 BST (we might be away). Gemini and IRC will be similarly affected.
