Assorted Fall Photos
On Monday and Tuesday, I took walks along the Tanana river and shot a few photos of spotted yellow and red leaves, as well as some dark-red leaves.

Bad docking karma
I was on the Santander hire bikes today and both trips ended up with the docking station I wanted to use being full. In the morning I had to use the road I was trying to avoid to get to the next empty station and in the evening I took the last slot in the second station.

Therioxenia: A Hellenic Religious Approach to Animal Rights
(Note: This post contains discussion of a particular "pagan" religion and its relation to ethics, especially ecological and animal-rights ethics. I recognize this is not everyone's shot of tequila. By all means, feel free to skip this one. I don't pretend this represents any kind of absolute moral system, and I don't want to get weird email about it.)
I don't usually talk about my religious practice; I'm often assumed to be an atheist, and I'm fine with that, but I believe deeply in Greco-Roman polytheism ("paganism.") I've been thinking a lot lately about how my faith applies specifically to ecological and animal issues.

Gaming Corner: Class of Heroes (+Busy Vacation)
Been a busy vacation so far -- in a good way, for the most part. Lots of what I like doing on vacations: playing games with friends and family, getting outside for beautiful nature walks (though some days have been a bit hot and humid for that). No progress on creative projects yet because I wanted to finish playing a game, the remaster of Class of Heroes 2 on Switch (see above), and that one as expected ended up being a doozy, so clearing it took me a while.
I also found some old games and books where I decided I'd rather have the money than the thing, plus clearing out a little shelf space, so I sold some things on ebay, some to a friend, and some to a big RPG reseller called Noble Knight Games, and that all went better than I expected and I made a decent bit of money from the sales -- but putting those up for sale, packaging them, and taking them to be shipped did take a chunk of time.

RE: Linkrot and Intellectual Stagnation
Rather than "sophistication" (relating to "sophistry", i.e., something complicated a sophist has had a hand in making seem true/good), I would prefer the strictly-oral knowledge that is passed along through the generations (e.g., of the Australian aborigines, or of the Penan of Borneo). That is how all life on Earth (incl. Homo) has lived, and it has lived well. Until a few thousand years ago. I say "it" because "we" cannot be considered the same, we have devolved and forgotten.

Holy smokes, I just released a MiniGolf game for Palm OS in 2024
This summer I embarked on a side project to create a brand new Palm OS game. It took a bit less than 2 months of intermittent coding to get to this point. And lo and behold, I actually got to the point to release it to the public!
