YouTube Stopped Working With Free Software a Long Time Ago; Now It Stops Working if You Use an Ad Blocker (Across the Web!)
Google knows that many people are accessing YouTube sometimes (for instance, to follow their favourite charities); now it is punishing these people by denying them access to YouTube until they stop using ad blockers.
Wow. It's getting worse, it has gotten a lot worse very fast. YouTube gets more and more aggressive each day; and it just simply stops playing now (altogether; another escalation since the day before yesterday):
So they bring up this popup/overlay (that cannot be overcome or bypassed) and, unlike before, the video stops playing too.
No football for you (even from official and legal channels; Invidious barely works anymore) until you kill the ad blocker.
A decade ago RMS told me it was still possible to play some material from YouTube using Free software. That's clearly not the case anymore and it's getting to the point where it's also not possible to access or "use" YouTube without watching ads.
Does Google now leverage "YouTube addiction" to wage a war on ad blockers everywhere? In general?
If so, then it's time to boycott YouTube.
