The 'doomers' were spot-on then. Don't waste any more time on social control media. It's a thing of the past, still in a 'death spiral':
Social control networks generally rely on the network effect (or inertia); so once things slide (a very steep decline) there's no comeback or turnaround; the only way is down, down, down... each time a person leaves it motivates many others to do the same, lessening the incentive to join or merely to stay (user retention).
Projects such as Wikileaks would be wise to use their own Web site rather than outsource everything (even audience) to "X". Think ahead. The future isn't in "X".
Facebook has also 'rebranded' as "Meta" and still tries hard to reinvent itself in order to survive.
