XBox Turmoil Continues, Head of XBox Game Studios Resigns After Less Than One Year
There are many signs that XBox is dying - something that many sites have predicted for a while
XBox has had many issues for many years already (not only financial issues, billions in losses) and recently some channel actors in Saudi Arabia said that the XBox became unavailable, after sales of XBox had fallen more than 50% in one year (despite them being sold at the a considerable loss) spurring rumours about the end of XBox amid many waves of layoffs. Well, as we expected all along, Microsoft is making some generic statement from some nontechnical PR person, claiming that what it tells the channel (no more XBox) isn't true. The media and the market are told contradictory stories...
Well, the bleeding cannot be stopped. Hartman is leaving. As Game Studios head, he's not some random person. To quote Game Rant, "Hartman had worked with Microsoft for over 25 years on a number of key franchises like Forza and Age of Empires" and another article says "Hartman’s retirement is surprising since he had only held the post for less than a year."
XBox will probably have yet another wave of layoffs by year's end. Microsoft destroyed the biggest game franchises with its mass layoffs, according to this hours-old report. Another report from this week says "yet more layoffs were announced at Microsoft, though this time in its Bethesda studios. Redfall and Dishonored developer Arkane Austin was closed, also marking the end of updates for the studio's online co-op vampire sho-ter. Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks was also closed at this time, as was Mighty Doom studio Alpha Dog Games. Microsoft faced intense criticism for its decision to shutter these studios, with Arkane Lyon boss Dinga Bakaba calling it a "a fu--ing gut stab"."
It seems Microsoft has no clue how to save XBox; buying Activision Blizzard was buying its revenue to pretend all was OK and there was still growth (where the opposite had been true for years). █
