Why There Aren't More Sites Talking About the Attacks on the FSF (or Trying to Defend the FSF)
The way so-called 'cancel mobs' work, they sort of make "lists". They make lists of perceived "enemies" and then threaten or mob them.
If you live in China, for instance, you hesitate to criticise the government. The other day Richard Stallman said: "In China, there seems to be only one way to criticize the government which is not forbidden: by stock trading."
Stallman is being targeted along with other people. The real target of the attack is the FSF and its ideals. They just try to isolate one person and then scare the rest. It's pretty darn obvious and that's why even those who disagree with Stallman on a lot of things ought to speak up about (and against) the mob.
"I'm looking for a cartoonist who would like to draw cartoons for me once in a while," Stallman says. "If you're interested, please write to rms, which refers to me, at the location gnu period org."
We already know that there has been a targeted attempt to silence people who helped him in the past. It won't stop unless those who do the mobbing realise it's too costly for them to do so.
The bottom line is, more transparency is necessary. We need more reporting. Passivity is part of the problem here. █
