Techrights Will Only Cover More of What Microsofters Don't Want It to Talk About
Because what causes unwarranted pushback is a "barometer" for what needs even more coverage. Same as EPO...
WE know that today should be very productive, with lots of articles already published in the first 3 hours of the day. We're very much motivated by the observation that notorious Microsoft employees want us gagged. They're not even hiding it.
The gagging tactics are a symptom. Consider the attacks on the FSF as of late. We know what the goal is. There are hardly any pretences about that.
Then consider the above news. There's an effort to turn the media into state propaganda of the "MAGA" crowd; shaming is the method, public shaming in particular.
A reader has said that "this is the harbinger of the death of the free press in the US" (citing "CPB Funds Ideological Overseers at NPR in Response to Right-Wing Criticism"), adding that "it's also heavily about censorship."
"I suppose there is a gag order from the top at NPR about it since nothing has been mentioned about it there."
NPR has many issue, including the way that it takes bribes from Microsoft and from Bill Gates (in exchange for bias). But it's a shot in their own foot if their response to right-wing criticism is to simply "pivot" to the right. It's basically letting the critics feel like they're getting their way; they will then want more and more.
The media can stick to facts, not emotions. That should be the sole compass. █
