lierre — Rules of the game
So. I now have an online soapbox, so that I can explore my fear of writing things where strangers can read me. Now what do I write? Let's come up with a couple rules to guide us.

The Chasm Width Problem
The chasm width problem in TRPG design is named after how in GURPS, the rule for how wide chasms the player characters can leap over is min(((2×([yards ran before the jump]+(HT+DX)/4+[Extra Basic Speed]+[Extra Basic Move]))-3), (2×(2×((HT+DX)/4+[Extra Basic Speed]+[Extra Basic Move])-3))) feet, a kind of cumbersome formula derived from point spend decisions the player made at build time, but the rule for how wide chasms the GM can introduce into adventure location is… there is no rule.

All roleplaying games have aspects
For the character aspects on a player character’s sheet, sure, stick to the advice from your typical Fate book. That’s fine for those aspects.
Aspects added in play are a little more restricted since aspects are true.
Is the a consequence on a character (whether it’s a player character or an enemy)? Then please don’t bypass the stress tracks and defense roll system. No fair trying to put “decapitated” on that big bad evil guy with create an advantage. And same goes for the GM; if that gnarly hardwood floor in the overfull inn wants to inflict a “poor night’s sleep” character consequence, give the players a chance to defend against that.
For aspects on locations or on situations, stick to things that you (the table) can live with as true. Some things (like “The city is completely destroyed”) that might be a stretch for a single create-an-advantage roll may be more appropriate as outcomes of challenges or contests. And some might not be appropiate at all and people can call bogus. Don’t overdo these restrictions because part of the tone that this game creates is wild things happening.

O.D.I.N.
After the events of November 5th, 2024, it has become apparent that the United States of America is no longer a free country. This has been coming for some time now, ever since the Neo-Conservative movement has swept the country since the beginning of the 21st century.
There is no denying that soon, bedlam will engulf the streets of America. People are fearing for their lives for what might happen to them, now that our government has turned into a dictatorship, and criminals are now running one of the most powerful countries on the face of the earth.

Reply to lyse about twtxt
To give more context, these ideas started with, "How would I create a twtxt spec from scratch without worrying about retro-compatibility with current clients?"
Sorry for not following all the discussions around twtxt 2.0; perhaps you've already suggested something similar, or even something entirely different. No hard feelings from my side if that's the case :)

Truth be told, I enjoy the scripting more than the posting. The latter is, well, you know, standard issue ego malarkey. But the former is the joy of reducing repetitive drudgery to simple keystrokes.

Yahoo News' Topic-specific RSS feeds are dead
The semi-public RSS feeds of Yahoo News, which power the aggregated news feature of 🧇 NewsWaffle, are essentially dead. I need to find a new option if I want to have an aggregated news feature.
