[Meme] Being High on Drugs Isn't Happiness (Likewise, Being a "Star" in Social Control Media is Temporary)
Twitter (X) in the past 2 years:

When "X" is abandoned or banned (which is imminent in some countries) what will happen to longtime Twitter addicts? Will they stay? Can they stay? The situation already impacts many universities/police departments (PDs)/emergency services/politicians/businesses/'influencers'/freelancers etc. Some reportedly left (silently) or became barely active there. This is understandable. They're addicted; but they understand it's unhealthy for them, so they reduce the dosage or quit "cold turkey".
"Leave all commercial social media," Simone Silvestroni has just said (in a blog, not some "tweet"). We said the same 3 years ago (that's when I left everything; Techrights was never there to begin with).
There are many blog posts to the same effect in recent days, usually because of Facebook (or Musk boosting the far-right in Germany, or both). We've added some to Daily Links lately.
Many entities - or people - will regret telling everybody "follow me on Twitter" (instead of, "here's my RSS feed for my own site").
"Indeed," an associate has said, "they are responsible for feeding Twitter and letting it become the monster it is. They are now making (or repeating) the same mistake with "Bluesky"..."
The ones that move to Bluesky or to Mastodon just hop between one sinking ship and another (where no good can happen). █
