A Lot of Stuff About "Linux" in Google News is LLM Slop, Fake 'Articles'
It seems to be getting worse
LLM slop is a parasite. It lessens the incentive for people to do any real journalism or for companies to pay people to do so.
Some former news sites have become slopfarms, but they aren't telling people. They foolishly hope that nobody will notice.
A new example about Parrot 6.3 (real coverage in [1, 2]). From cybersecuritynews.com, a slopfarm:
All their articles are not articles but slop, along with slop images:
This slopfarm is so proud to say that it is in "Google News" (where there were mass layoffs).
At what point - if any - will Google News be majority slop, even for "Linux" or related topics?
Google News is now on the verge of actually promoting fake articles while omitting (or delisting) the real articles the fakes are derived from. █
