IDG 'Reviews' of GNU/Linux Now Contain LLM Slop
WE did not truly expect IDG to improve when it was sold to China, seeing how it had already spread plenty of propaganda for its advertisers, notably Microsoft. It's typically ads or commercials... or sometimes spin disguised as news.
IDG Web sites have barely been active in recent years (barely one person running each site and some Web sites decommissioned altogether).
My wife has just noticed a new review from IDG. It's a "review" of the latest Ubuntu and just look at this text; it's like boilerplate cruft, but working one's way backwards with common LLMs isn't trivial, plus "smell tests" aren't enough, so let's check with an online tool that has API access.
100% LLM slop is what that portion is, based on the text scan my wife ran. She decided all on her own to join the "slop hunt(ing)", seeing what a growing nuisance it can be to people who look for real news in today's Web, not chatbots.
More people ought to 'hunt down' the culprits. It's very important. █
