By Buying Twitter, MElon and Cheeto Now Control EU Politicians, Even at the Highest Levels
The EU officials should know better, based on Romania at the very least.
Letting communications be controlled by hostile entities is worse than foolish. It's just addiction and like most addictions it is ruinous. Too many EU politicians let proprietary software from other continents control virtually all their communications online and "curate" them, as Salman Rushdie has just put it.
The above article is disturbing as it helps show just to what extent MElon et al control our communications (The Local itself is strongly linked to the US, so the name of the publication is misleading).
As an associate put it, "the top level politicians make the egregious mistake of trying to treat Xitter as if it were a communications medium".
They need to stop doing this.
The same publisher said a few days ago that "Danish police are preparing to leave X" (ours should too).
"When it comes to misinformation and changing algorithms," The Local DK said, "X has developed in a way that makes it clear that we in the police need to own our own communication..."
Can someone explain Free software to them? █
