Slopwatch: Anti-Linux Machine-Generated FUD (LLM Slop) From GBHackers, CybersecurityNews, and Guardian Digital, Inc (Google News Promotes Slop Plagiarism, Misinformation)

ANOTHER day, another avalanche of LLM slop. Let's focus on LLM slop that tarnishes the name of Linux and creates/accentuates false stigmas.

Consider the following fake 'article':

LLM slop: Fedora Linux Kernel Flaw Exposed Sensitive Data to Attackers

It's LLM slop:

LLM slop: A newly discovered vulnerability in the Fedora Linux kernel, identified as CVE-2025-1272, has raised alarm bells in the open-source community.

Also in a site (slopfarm) that seems connected to the above [1, 2]: (both are in Google News despite being 100% slop)

LLM slop: Fedora Linux Kernel Vulnerability Let Attackers Gain Access to Sensitive Data

Meanwhile at Guardian Digital, Inc (linuxsecurity.com):

They don't even check what they post anymore: From C to Rust: The Evolution of Linux Kernel Security

LLM slop, as usual:

Let's examine the need for enhanced kernel security, the benefits and challenges of this transition, and the road ahead for Rust integration in the Linux kernel.

They relay the Linux Foundation's (GAFAM) lies. They rely on GAFAM LLMs, so they perpetuate lies from bots controlled by the liars.

On the same day, this time by Serial Slopper Brittany Day: (still trying to associate ransomware with Linux, despite it being a Windows problem)

Best Linux Backup Solutions to Prevent Data Loss in A Ransomware Attack

The Web is getting really bad. Companies that lie try to drown out the signal with falsehoods, hoping that some people will read those falsehoods and pass them on, too (verbally or otherwise).

A strict stance against LLM slop is needed. Collective action would help.

LLMs are often painted in the media (or LLM slop pretending to be media) as an amazing scientific advancement, whereas in practice LLMs help crush scientific advancement by curbing quality.
