Breakfast at Jozi's
Jozi made me laugh deeply, nearly every day I was with her. She also made me cry more than one time in the five months I spent with her. She has filled me with joy, inflamed me with rage, befuddled me with confusion, and terrified me into not leaving my apartment for days at a time.
I've experienced the warmest hospitality with Jozi. I've been welcomed and accepted with open arms. I've been loved. I've been grifted. I've had it made clear that I don't belong. I've fitted in and felt like a local. I've been gifted beautiful experiences and delicious foods, I've been ripped off and worked over by the authorities and the cops.

Die Hard
My first foray into the Die Hard franchise was Die Hard 4, AKA Live Free or Die Hard. I really enjoyed the conceit of the film: using technology, a man and his crew shut down the entire USA via cyberattacks: hijacking TV stations, changing traffic lights/signs, and downloading "all the country's financial data" to a central repository, easily stolen. It's quite intriguing.
Despite being one of the more poorly-regarded films in the series, I really enjoyed watching it. Maybe it's because I wasn't tainted by watching the previous films. Maybe it was because I've been a fan of Justin Long since he was on Ed (NBC) and Galaxy Quest. Maybe it's because the action is quite satisfactory, if a bit ridiculous. Maybe it's because I've viewed Timothy Olyphant as an incredible villain actor ever since he terrorized a high school kid in The Girl Next Door (2004). Whatever the reasons, I still love rewatching this movie. It's just fun.

detached reflections on urls
mime types are totes cool and all, but file extensions are still where it's at if you're human! understandable at a glance, expressive and evocative.
from time to time i stumble upon the idea that .html extensions in urls are messy, ugly or just plain bad. while disagree on the aesthetics (that .html, .gmi or .cgi is both charming and elegant), i won't try to make an argument to convince anyone they're wrong. beauty is, after all, in the eye of the beholder, and i urge everyone to follow their own personal tastes and inclinations.

AI in the fast laneAI in the fast lane
When reality becomes too weird too fast one might as well take a step back and read some books, which is exactly what I have been doing. I'll comment on some recent reading, but first a thought on the things moving in the fast lane.

The Engagement Rehab
I’ve written extensively, in French, about my quest to break my "connection addiction" by doing what I called "disconnections". At first, it was only doing three months without major news media and social networks. Then I tried to do one full year where I would only connect once a day.
This proved to be too ambitious and failed around May when the amount of stuff that required me to be online (banking, travel booking, online meetings, …) became too high.

Another new zine
Well, I got another zine finished and up here and it's still not more Lindwyrm (or other ttrpg stuff), but I think it's useful anyway --
Hand-Stitching Zines covers three simple methods of sewing the binding of a zine or other small booklike thing (saddle stitch, a chapbook stitch that's basically the same technique as saddle stitch, and a simple stab stitch).
