Slopfarms (Sites That Only Ever Publish LLM Slop) Are Killing Google News
Rewarding bad faith sites and rogue operations which spread misinformation
There's a pair of slopfarms still being propped up by Google News every day (impacting many search terms, including "Linux" and "BSD"):
Both the image and text are slop. They're fake, they just manipulate other people's work to come up with (often) misinformation. Why does Google give visibility to these as news sources? It has done this for months already. Here's the "double" (same network of slopfarms):
And the 'sister slopfarm' also doing LLM slop about Rust, just like mentioned earlier this morning:
They've also just taken real articles about a Linux release, turning these into LLM slop with slop images:
All the above (5) show up this morning when searching Google News for "Linux".
If Google does not get this problem under control (worse yet, Google offers LLMs to help people do this!), Google News will become completely obsolete, rewarding plagiarists. █
