Making Site Archives More Easily Accessible (Approaching 50,000 Blog Posts)
This morning we asked listeners for feedback and instead a reader sent us a request (in IRC) for old site archives in Gemini and in HTTP/S.
Tomorrow this site turns 18.5 exactly:
So we've helped ourselves to an early "gift" - a full index of past pages and posts, extracted from WordPress when we abandoned WordPress in 2023:
We have the same right now in Gemini:
There are so many pages in there that we're ranked high among capsules because of the capsule's scale:
Notice it's up to 3028 today; it was 3000 less than 3 weeks ago. That's a net gain of about 10 per week.
In the "new site" (static) this post is #9305 and in the "old site" we had close to 40,000 in total, so aside from videos, documents, wiki pages etc. we seem to be approaching a total of 50,000. Efforts to censor us have always backfired badly [1, 2], especially when nefarious means were attempted (trying to bypass due process).
Tomorrow when this site turns 18.5 we'll take a look back and outline plans for the coming years. █
